From a young age, Victor was fascinated by science, particularly alchemy and natural philosophy. However, upon discovering modern scientific texts, his curiosity evolves into an obsession. ভূমিকা: বাংলা কাব্যের ভুবনে বাংলাদেশের মানসকবি জসীম উদদীনের (১৯০৩-১৯৭৬) আবির্ভাব বিশ শতকের তৃতীয় দশকে। তিনি রবীন্দ্র-নজরুল ও তিরিশের কবিদের বলয় ও প্রভাব মুক্ত থেকে কবিতায় এক নতুন ও ব্যতিক্রম স্বর সৃষ্টি করেছেন। সোজন বাদিয়ার ঘাট (১৯৩৩) কবি জসীম উদদীনের দ্বিতীয় আখ্যান কাব্য। সমকালীন কবিরা যেখানে প্রায় সকলেই নগরচেতনা, নাগরিক জীবন ও আচার-আচরণ সাহিত্য চর্চার ক্ষেত্রে তুলে এনেছেন, জসীম উদদীন সেখানে তার কবিতায় আবহমান বাংলার প্রকৃতি, সমাজ ও সাধারণ মানুষের জীবন-চিত্রকেই আন্তরিক নিষ্ঠা, অকৃত্রিম ভালবাসা ও দরদ দিয়ে ফুটিয়ে তুলেছেন। ‘সোজন বাদিয়ার ঘাট’ কবির বিকল্প জীবনবোধ, জীবনপদ্ধতি এবং জীবন অভিজ্ঞতা সমৃদ্ধ উপন্যাসধর্মী রচনা। এ কাব্যে প্রেমভাবনা ও সমাজভাবনা দুইই পরস্পরের পরিপূরক হয়ে উঠেছে। নিম্নে … “সোজন বাদিয়ার ঘাট” কাব্যের শৈল্পিক বৈশিষ্ট্য ও কবিমানস ১. অসাম্প্রদায়িক ও উদার দৃষ্টিভঙ্গির পরিচয়: “সোজন বাদিয়ার ঘাট” কাব্যে অসাম্প্রদায়িকতা দৃষ্টিভঙ্গির পরিচয় পাওয়া যায়। এ আখ্যান কাব্যে হিন্দু-মুসলিমদের সহাবস্থান, দাঙ্গা-হাঙ্গামা ও তৎকালীন পরিবেশ ও ঘটনা পরিক্রমায় লিখিত। আবহমানকাল থেকেই বাংলাদেশের অনেক অঞ্চল/গ্রামে হিন্দু-মুসলমানদের একত্রে বসবাস, সম্প্রীতির পরিচয় আছে। বিভিন্ন কারণে দুই ধর্মের মধ্যে মারামারী ও দাঙ্গা-হাঙ্গামা লেগে যায়। কবি এরূপ বর্ণনায় অসাম্প্রদায়িক হিসাবে চরম নিরপেক্ষতার বর্ণনা দিয়েছেন। “নমু পাড়ায় পূজা পরব, শঙ্ক কাঁসর বাজে, … মুসলমানের পাড়ায় বসে ঈদের মহোৎসবে,” ২. প্রেমভাবনা ও সমাজভাবনা দুইই পরস্পরের পরিপূরক: “সোজন বাদিয়ার ঘাট” কাব্যেপন্যাসের প্লট নির্মিত হয়েছে মুসলমান চাষীর ছেলে সোজন আর হিন্দু নমুর মেয়ে দুলীর অপূর্ব প্রেমের কাহিনীকে ঘিরে; তার সঙ্গে যুক্ত হয়েছে বিগত সামন্ত যুগের জমিদারি প্রথার নিষ্ঠরতার আলেখ্য। গ্রামের হিন্দু বালিকা দুলীর সাথে মুসলমানের ছেলে সোজনের আবল্য বন্ধুত্ব। বন্ধু থেকে আস্তে আস্তে প্রেমে পরিণত হয়। কবিতায়- “নমুদের মেয়ে আর সোজনের ভারি ভাব দুইজনে, লতার সঙ্গে গাছের মিলন, গাছের লতার সনে।“ প্রেমের তুলনায় সমাজ অতিমাত্রায় কাব্যের জায়গা দখল করে নিয়েছে। কাব্যে সামাজিক অনুষঙ্গের উপস্থাপন করেছেন কবি। কবিতাতে তিনি সমাজের সর্বশ্রেণীর মানুষকে আসার আহ্বান করেছেন। সমাজের মানুষের সংস্কৃতি, আচার-ব্যবহার, খেলাধুলা প্রভৃতির পরিচয় পাওয়া যায় কাব্যটিতে। দুলির মায়ের কণ্ঠে সমাজের রূঢ় রূপটি প্রকাশ পায়- “পোড়ারমুখীলো, তোর জন্যেত পাড়ায় যে ঠেকা ভার, চূণ নাহি ধারি এমন লোকেরো কথা হয় শুনিবার!” ৩. জীবনবোধ, জীবনপদ্ধতি এবং জীবন অভিজ্ঞতা সমৃদ্ধ রচনা: কবি পল্লিগীতির সংগ্রাহক হিসেবে কাজ করেছিলেন দীনেশচন্দ্র সেনের সাথে। শহরজীবনে বসবাস করলেও তিনি পল্লিগীতির সংগ্রাহক হিসেবে গ্রামে কাজ করেছেন। ফলে তিনি মানুষের সাথে মিশতে পেরেছেন এবং তাঁর জীবনবোধ ও জীবন অভিজ্ঞতা হয়েছে সমৃদ্ধ। তাঁর জীবনপদ্ধতি ব্যতিক্রমধর্মী এবং বড় কবিতার ধারক হিসেবেই তিনি পরিচিত। ৪. উপন্যাসধর্মী রচনা: “সোজন বাদিয়ার ঘাট” একটি উপন্যাসধর্মী রচনা। কাব্যের কবিতাগুলো জসীম উদদীন উপন্যাসের ঢংয়ে লিখেছেন। এ যেন লোকজ ঐতিহ্যের প্রতীক। ৫. মৌলিক রচনাধর্মী ও অনন্য: অন্যেরা বিভিন্ন ধর্মগ্রন্থ বা ধর্মীয় সম্পর্কিত কাহিনী থেকে নিয়েছেন। কিন্তু কবি জসীমউদ্দীন কাহিনী নিয়েছেন ঘর থেকে, গ্রাম থেকে, পল্লী গ্রাম-বাংলা থেকে। এখানে তিনি মৌলিক ও অনন্য। ৬. আধুনিকতা ও উদারনীতির বৈশিষ্ট্য: সময়কে এড়িয়ে না গিয়ে তাকে স্বীকার করে নিয়ে লেখা আধুনিকতার বৈশিষ্ট্য। প্রাণিজগতের কল্যাণকামনা করে মানবিক হওয়াও আধুনিকতার বৈশিষ্ট্য। এসবের সংমিশ্রণে জসীম উদদীন কবিতায় অবয়ব দিয়েছেন। হিন্দু কিশোরী দুলালী বা দুলী ও মুসলমান কিশোর সুজনের প্রেম নিয়ে মুসলমান ও হিন্দুদের মধ্যে দাঙ্গা লেগে যায়। নিরপেক্ষ দৃষ্টিতে জসীমউদ্দীন লিখলেন- এক গেরামের গাছের তলায় ঘর বেঁধেছি সবাই মিলে . . . এক মাঠেতে লাঙল ঠেলি, বৃষ্টিতে নাই, রৌদ্রে পুড়ি সুখের বেলায় দুখের বেলায় ওরাই মোদের জোড়ের জুড়ি। ৭. চরিত্র নির্মাণে দক্ষতা: ‘সোজন বাদিয়ার ঘাট’ কাব্যে লেখক চরিত্রের আমদানি করেছেন, চরিত্রের বিকাশ ঘটিয়েছেন এবং চরিত্রের পরিণতি দেখিয়েছেন। চরিত্র যেন অনুভূতির মাধ্যমে কথা বলছে। তিনি চরিত্র অনুযায়ী ভাষার ব্যবহারেও দক্ষতার পরিচয় দিয়েছেন। ৮. কাহিনী ও ভাষা বিন্যাসে পাণ্ডিত্য: কাহিনী বিন্যাসে, ভাষা ব্যবহারে এবং উপমা-চিত্রকল্পে তার রচনায় লোক-কাব্য, পুঁথি-সাহিত্য, লোক-সঙ্গীতের কিছু প্রভাব রয়েছে। লোকজ উপাদানের ব্যবহার থাকলেও আঞ্চলিক শব্দের ব্যবহার কম; প্রায় নেই বললেই চলে। এখানেও জসীমের মুন্সিয়ানার পরিচয় পাওয়া যায়। ৯. ছন্দ ও অলঙ্কারের প্রয়োগ: আধুনিক কবিতায় অলঙ্কারের প্রয়োগ লক্ষণীয়। কবি জসীমউদ্দীন কবিতায় উপমা-উৎপ্রেক্ষা, সমাসোক্তি ও অন্যান্য অলঙ্কারের যুতসই ব্যবহার ও প্রয়োগ দেখা যায়। তার অলঙ্কারের বেশিরভাগ উপাদানই লোকজ।
